Parental Pressure

Birthday treat,or a movie at four or rather a hangout with pals? These things seem so exciting don’t they? They are indeed. They turn out to be even more enjoyable for the board giving students. We all cross this upsetting phase in our lives. The moment we sit to study,we are levied with huge showers of scoldings, taunts and much more. Why can’t we be guided instead of all these unnecessary dramas? I am not against my elders, but it is a serious matter to look upon.

Our country, even after gaining independence in 1947 cannot be called a free nation. This is because when we youngsters sift our plans,we are bound with restrictions. We are ruled over.Either engineering or medical.Isin’t this something very foolish? It is not a written legal notice that every child has to qualify IIT or NEET.Why can’t your son/daughter be a writer, swimmer or an actor? Why are they living under so much pressure? The best way to clear all these misconceptions about our career is just to follow what your heart tells you and how your mind guides you. In the end all of us are the architectures of our own house, and it depends on us whether we make it luxurious or a bat’s place.
My heart tells me to be writer and my mind guides me how to improve over that. Side by side i’m not neglecting the fact that I am a board student and I need to score well because I cannot let my parents down at any cost. If they want a small bait from me,I can happily offer it to them but the day when I’ll tell them that I don’t want to be counted among all the common engineering heads and have rather a dream to shine even brighter by achieving success through writing,I expect a support too. I know and have heard umpteen number of times that our parents want their children to fulfill their unaccomplished dreams and in the heat of their expectations, their guidance becomes a fearful weapon. We feel caged and helpless when we start following the path which our heart and mind had never made themselves accustomed to. Everything, thereafter we face makes us regret over our deeds.
Sometimes we come across situations where we are unable to relate between right and wrong. Especially when it comes to choosing the subjects for our future. At that particular moment,we have to be ready for a conquest which is likely to happen between our relatives. Indian community is blind to everything else but not to the percentage and the ‘Science side’. If your relatives ever pay you a visit, instead of greeting you, they would start off with the marks that their children might have attained recently. That is not very civil of them, don’t you think so? Well,my only motive is to spread awareness among all of us through my article. Though,I am well inferred with the fact that “peer pressure” is the topic which is on highlight these days, but as a student I strongly feel that something needs to be done to get rid of this trauma that we all suffer with, each day. Be it through any means.
The foremost step that we youngsters should take is to start with a sensible conversation with our family members. We must keep our views in front of them and clear all what we have dreamt of doing ahead in our lives. They will understand, one day or the other, because God has created us to live the life we’ve been granted by him. To fulfill our dreams should only be instructed through our thoughts, irrespective of the jury’s voice which seems overpowering on our gentle minds.

I strongly believe that we have landed on this beautiful planet to turn the adversity into an opportunity. If we’ll keep on murdering our dreams, our reality will one day be so fierce and will yell at us ,making us regret over our past decisions. To avoid this thing to happen we all should look for happiness which is somewhere hidden in our dreams.

  1. Ah yes! How well do I know about your encounters with peer pressure!! I am insanely commenting because I know what it is like to get pop ups for new comments. I too had that awesome feeling when I started blogging two years back. And gradually, eventually STOPPED.
